VIDEO CAPTURING TUTORIAL USING HYPERCAM ------------------------------------------------ by Faran 'ChemicaL' QAZi
Things you need before you start ------------------------------- - Windows 98,2000,XP,Me (XP preffered) - Hypercam (http://www.hyperionics.com/) - WinKawaks emulator and some rom - A Computer (of course!)

2. Set your desktop colors to 16 bit.
3. Open Hypercam and select the screen area tab

Screen Area ---------- The last two options are important here. you can try each of them once and check which one works better for you. The second option (captured layered/transprent...)works good for me. This option is only available in windows 2000/XP.

AVI File ------ AVI filename.. select name and path for the file you will be creating
Record Sound.. capturing will be a lot better without sound. but if you want to record sound, keep the sound settings low (see the sound tab).
Frames per second.. you should keep the record and playback frames the same. 30 fps gives a good result. 25 will also do. you can record upto 60 fps, depends on your cpu power.
capture/framrate ration.. keep it 1 if you want to capture every frame.
keyframe every.. keep it 100
video compresser.. you should keep this to full frames (uncompressed), it will make an uncompressed avi file with a large size but you can deal with it later on.

Sound ----- if you want to record sound, you should keep all settings here to a minimum as in the screen shot.

Other options ----------- You dont need to record a cursor while capturing a game video, so keep all settings as shown above.

4. Now load a game in kawaks and disable the sound. keep the video blitter to normal.

5. Now in hypercam, on the screen area tab press select region, you can now select the area you want to record from the game. Drag the mouse and create a box around the game window and release the mouse button. Now your area is selected which will be recorded.
6. Now you can use the default hotkeys to record. Press F2 to start and stop recording, F3 to pause and F4 to take a shot when paused. You can customize the hotkeys under the hotkeys tab.
Thats all you need to know about video capturing using Hypercam. I have a Celeron 1.1ghz system with 256 mb ram and a 32mb video card and I can capture a good 30fps movie without sound and a 25fps movie with sound using these settings. And I prefer to use Windows XP for capuring because it gives me better results.
